My reason at the moment not to have any work to do is:
Not sick enough not to go to school tomorrow.
There is no sport as fun as flying, for if you lose, you die. Saphira, Brisingr
Hip, Hip, Hip, Hurray!!!!
He is "officially a good reader"
Yay!!!!
WHOOOOO!!!
Half of them are closed for 4 Sundays out of 5, others are unfindable,
and another is closed just for today -sorry for any inconvenience. We
finally found the Baptist church -have you ever got lost in Hay???-
and we have 35 mins to fill until it starts...starting to think we
should just listen to Mark Driscle again
I'm back in spaghetti tops and short-shorts.....
But nowhere near as hot as it has been...
I am looking forward to the day when we don't have to pack up -takes 2
hours- and set up -takes half an hour- every morning............
A bird nest is apparently a type of knot that is very, very easy to
accidently tie in your line..."Even Hannah could do it!"
I have started to let Sol teach me how to kick a football....which I
am not very good at. Although I can catch ok. And yesterday Sol kicked
it over the wall, then up the tree twice. I am very lucky it wasn;t
me...I would've been in trouble....big trouble.
We've been driving across the Nullarbor, which has to be the most
boring drive I've ever done. Made worse by the lack of net....
The Nullarbor is a plain, flat area of land in WA and SA. It has
barley any trees, bushes, shrubs, animals or anything really.
And I just wanted to say thank you to Rebecca and Anna, for looking
out for what I'm missing and telling me about it.....So Thankyou!
It was 69m into the air....
Climable is a very loose word. Every step was on metal poles drilled
into tree. It was a long climb, made harder by the wind and also the
knowledge, that every step put you back under the person infront of you.
About half way up, Dads phone rang -of all the obscure places to have
phone reception- he answered it and I heard him say.."Hello, yes this
is Dominic Steele, have you heard of tree Gloucester tree?? Anyway,
its the tallest tree in Australia, and I'm about half way through
climbing it, could you give me, about half an hour??? Thanks". It was
the NRMA.
When we were on the first landing, Dad decided only Mum, he and I
could finish the climb.
When I got to the top, we were higher than the trunk, giving the
landing an unsteadiness. I crawled over to the edge, and saw how far
it was down. I stayed seated the whole while up there, afraid that a
sudden move could send me tumbling over the edge.
As I began the climb down, I pulled a hair tie from my wrist -always
keep a few handy- and tied it at the top of the tree, a momento that I
had been there.
When I finally got to the bottom, I jumped the last few rungs, so that
I could say "I've jumped off the tallest tree in Australia"
It was very, very scary.....Don't let that happen to our world.
Ever.
The boys just came back, telling tales of wind, coldness, and no fish..
And they stink.
Happy Birthday, Abraham!!!!![]()
Happy Birthday Abro!!!Have a Gr8 day!!!Se onr sverdar sitja hvassMay your swords stay sharp
We went to a little place called Hut Province....
We met Princess Shirley -Prince Leonard was at hospital. And she
showed us there own currancy -which you could bye- also there own
post office, church, throne...
So, SO, SOOOOO weird.
Thing is, we didn't go over seas...we just drove past a sign that said
"You are now in the principality of Hutt"
And Perth has 3g internet..Which rocks!!!!!
We drove almost all day, except when we stopped at the
Pinnacles....Which is another collection of rocks -Australia has alot
of those- which Abro describes as "Its like their
gravestones......theres enough room for every body". I agree......Why
the Pinnacles are a tourist attraction, I have no idea.....but it was
nice to stop...
And -shock horror- its becoming to cool to wear singlet tops.......
And, I heard that a few days ago it was 36 degrees in Sydney.....Mwah
ha ha ha!!!! On that day it was 19......
VICTORIOUS!!!!!
He took advantage of this.
But the best present he got was when he went fishing, he on his first
cast he caught a fish. It was a bit small -don't tell anyone. But Mum
let him keep it, gut it, scale it, cook it and eat it, because it was
his birthday and his first fish.
It was also the best present because he knew everything else was
coming.
We got up at 6:30, dressed, debated leaving, decided it was too much
work, and went to the beach to watch the dolphin feeding. Of course,
most* skilled people managed to fit in eating breakfast, finding
shoes, grabbing cameras...one even got a shower.
We waited, ankle deep in freezing water, for about half an hour,
before someone who seemed to be running things turned up. She talked
about dolphins and sharks and Shark Bay in general, before picking up
her radio** and asking "Have you defrosted the fish yet??"
After they defrosted the fish, we got to feed the dolphins. Sol was
the first chosen, Abro was about in the middle, Dad filmed both of
them. He didn't expect that I would get to go last, so he didn't film
me. The dolphins were really, really fussy. We had to hold it exactly
level with their snout, be exactly in the right spot, and not make any
noise. They had us well trained
*I say most, but not all
**No mobile phone reception
Mum organised food, and clothes...Dad wound down the campervan...the
kids moaned in the car..Soon we were moving, we drove and drove and
drove and drove and had been driving for 5 hours by 9:30. We had just
reached the turn of for the Bungles.
On the way we passed several towns..including Dead Horse Springs
andTurkey Creek.
The sun was beating down on us, and our shadows had almost
disappeared, when we got to the 2 hour walk we were going to try.
We walked and walked and walked and walked and finally we were at the
end...now all we had to do was go back. In the "Cathedral Gorge" was a
giant gorge -like its name- in the shape of a sphere. The echoes were
the best!!! The walk back was shorter than the walk there....even the
signs agreed, although it took the same amount of time.
When we got back we each had an ice block, and suddenly all the times
the fridge had broke didn't seem to matter....
We lit his candles...and the fire alarm went off...
Admittedly the candles were sparklers.....but we still weren't
expecting that.
And....its really hard.
You can't breathe through your nose....and when you do the mask gets
stuck on your face in a bad way...
That wasn't my main problem though, my problem was that I kept having
to come up to breathe......Which kind of defeats the point of wearing
the weird mask.
But it was freezing!!! I can't remember the last time I said that,
usually I am complaining about the heat, but it was bad.
The coral made it worth it, it was better than the great barrier reef,
a lot better.
And Monkey Mia has internet!!! Or it would...if we could find the soap-
on-a-rope.
We had to pay just to get onto the road....because it is world
heritage....and you may as well take advantage of those tourists!!!!
Just tried internet....and it didn't work...
The boat rocked, it had nets which we could hang on, chairs lots of
sunglassess, a no shoes rule, and Internet. What more could you want????
