Our Mission
Under God's hand and for Jesus' glory we exist to:
- Build God's people
- Reach the media
- Reach the inner-west
- Impact the nations
through the transforming message of Jesus as Saviour and Lord.
Our Beliefs
We are an evangelical Christian ministry. By "evangelical" we understand that the ministry will seek to evangelise non-Christians and edify believers in accordance with the evangelical faith as explained in the A.F.E.S. doctrinal statement.

Reaching the Media (Network Ministry Vision)
Worker Ministry
Our aim is to see ten percent (350 people) of Sydney’s media Evangelical Christians working together to evangelise the media community by 2016.
We want to encourage our network ministry members to live radical lives in service of Jesus, urging them to be intentional missionaries in their media workplaces.
We want to see weekly meetings for Bible Study and prayer of evangelistically minded gatekeeper Christians (committed to our vision) in all our major media outlets.
We want to see four/fiveregular rallying edificatory, evangelistic and training events each year for the wider Christian media community.
Student Ministry
We are asking God that our network student ministry become a well resourced presence in all our major communications faculties.
We want to see a close connection between our student and worker ministries.
Regions and Capital Cities
Across Australia, we want to see new Christians in the Media networks developed in each capital city.
Building God's People (Church Vision)
We hope to be a vibrant loving Church Family (average weekly attendance of one thousand adults spread over a number of meetings) where people are encouraged to grow in personal relationship with Jesus (as their Lord and Saviour) and to put the love of Christ into practice, knowing, loving, and care for the other Christians in our community.
We want our church family to be the hub of the Christians in the Media network vision and at the same time reaching out effectively to the Annandale and inner west community. (Hence as most churches pray for ministry in their local area, we will be regularly reporting on & praying for and encouraging support to and participation in ministry in the virtual suburb of the media and the Annandale district.)
We expect most of our church family meetings will be in our new (2006-2007) church complex, although some may meet off site.
Christians in the Media Church Families
We want our Christians in the Media churches to be loving, welcoming, creative community churches, predominantly reaching out to media workers, media students, inner west residents and friends, supported by senior media statespeople (approx 700 adults across several congregations).
Our Annandale Community Churches will have a long-term priority of reaching those in the media world along with a commitment to our immediate geographic community.
Annandale Community Church Families
We want our Annandale Community Churches to be loving, welcoming, child friendly, creative community church family with a broad cross section of ages, full of inner west families along with a significant presence from senior media gatekeepers (and their families (aprox 300 adults across several congregations)).
Our Annandale Community Churches will have a long-term priority of reaching those in our immediate geographic community along with a commitment to evangelise the media. Therefore our Annandale Community Churches will be aimed both at inner west families and members of the media community (and their families).

Reaching the Inner West
We aim to serve the inner west community by helping our community come to know and trust Jesus through:
- Four Introducing God courses each year
- Ministry to mothers and young children
- Strong scripture presences in: Annandale Public School, Annandale North Public School with smaller presences at: Fort Street High School, Leichhardt High School
- Regular services in the Annandale Retirement villages and Nursing homes
- Personal visitation of Nursing Home residents
- Adventure Club for kids
- Youth Ministry
- Ministry to strengthen marriages
To impact the nations through the transforming message of Jesus as Saviour and Lord, we aim to facilitate effective gospel evangelism – in culturally appropriate ways – across Australia, NZ and other nations. This will be accomplished by producing quality resources that enable other ministries to reach and build God’s people with the transforming message of Jesus as Saviour and Lord. These resources will be produced under the banner 'Christians in the Media Resources'.
Christians in the Media Resources aims to:
- Grow enthusiasm towards evangelism using Introducing God
- Produce new resources - TV programs, video courses, booklets
- Provide resources for purchase or download through new, updated & integrated web sites
Our Values
Evangelical
By "evangelical" we understand that the ministry will seek to evangelise non-Christians and edify believers in accordance with the evangelical faith as explained in the A.F.E.S. doctrinal statement.
Expository
The teaching of the Bible in a systematic and expository manner will be the regular focus of our meetings.
Evangelistic
Our public meetings will always be outsider accessible.
• At Christians in the Media while the focus is on evangelism to the media community, we will also work at reaching out to the local community.
• At Annandale Community Church while the focus is on evangelism to the local community, we will also work at reaching out the media community.
Thinking
The Bible will be taught in a way that encourages people to be discerning/to think critically.
Life changing
We want to challenge people not to be ‘comfortable Christians’ but to live radical lives of trust, obedience, love and hope.
Prayer
Prayer is to mark our personal lives and whenever we meet together.
Community
We want all our members to be actively involved in the lives of the others in our fellowship, knowing, caring and loving each other, training in ministry, and showing initiative in growing Christ’s kingdom.
Godly Leadership
We expect anyone involved in public ministry or leadership to be striving to live lives of personal Holiness.
Sending
We want to encourage people into full time ministry and media gatekeeper roles - so people are maximising the use of their gifts to influence how people think about Christ.
Media Focus
As most churches/ministries pray for their local ministries, we will be regularly reporting on & praying for ministry in the virtual suburb of the media.
Contemporary, Welcoming, Energetic, Creative
We want to be a contemporary culturally appropriate ministry for the group we are ministering to. The vibe will be contemporary, welcoming, well prepared, energetic and positive towards creativity
Music
The words of our music chosen should reflect an evangelical understanding of Scripture. The music should be contemporary, energetic, well practiced and executed.
Gender
The Bible will shape our gender roles in corporate practice and family life.
